What is a reasonable price for a used 833 from a 72 small block Barracuda?  Just the tranny, no shifter, bellhousing, or rods.  It is represented as in good shape without issues.

If it were to need work, say bearings or synchros, what's it cost to go through one?

Not knowing condition I would think 200-500 depending on visual inspection. Is the spline on input shaft good. Spin it by hand how does it sound. I just paid 500 for one with pedals and a shifter. I will be going though it. Rebuild kit $100 any hard parts can be pricy. A friend had one rebuilt by a local guy needed 2nd gear and synchro's $750

Yea...I agree...$300-$400 for a core.... Around here rebuilding them runs around $700 unless like stated they need any major internal parts $$$ :bigmoney:
