I don't think you would be getting fair value if you sold it for $60k. I know a lot people feel that a car isn't worth a lot when they own it because they are used to having it around. Do a search for a shaker, 4 speed, factory 71 Challenger convt. that is matching #'s, rustfree and in very presentable shape. I don't think you will find one and certainly not in the $60k range, most likely not in the under $100k range if at all.
:iagree: Could not have said it any better than that!  :alan2cents:

The car may have the value, but certainly not the demand. If it was a 71 cuda with the same options you could sell it ten times over...71 Challengers just don't seem to get the same love....one comparable that comes to mind is the gold automatic one that was for sale for ever in the $60K range...
I've taught you everything you know....but I haven't taught you everything I know....

I  have been with American Collector's INS for 30 years and never had a problem with them -but them again I never had a claim. I had my 70 RT Vert insured for $105,000.00 for over 15 years. Even when the prices dropped a few years ago they never question the amount. I personally just dropped it to $75,000.00 AGREED VALUE this year and they were fine with that. I pay $562.00 a year for the $75,000.00. Not sure if that is high or not compared to the other companies. I would say your Challenger should be insured for at least 75-100.

Wow. Factory shaker on a non-RT car. I didn't know that was an option! Ya learn something new every day here.
:bradsthumb:

The Dodge Challenger convertible was NOT available as an R/T for the 1971 model year.
All 1971 Dodge Challenger convertibles are JH27 cars. (No JS27 models).

Though any of the R/T options could be added. That's why many 71 Challenger convertibles have options that would make them look like an R/T

No engine bigger than a 383 in a 1971 challenger convertible ether!

I'd say $85k is about right for a driver, #3 car.
