Yes, 70 only correct for e-body. Just missing spring.

3461113 looks like an era correct part number but my parts book shows 3420987 for non426 with disc for a 70.  I'm sure we'll get a numbers guru to check in for deciphering.

Yes, 70 only correct for e-body. Just missing spring.
The spring is a %#*@ to find. I broke mine, but on advice of a local machine shop I used a brand x brake spring that was very close with some minor reshaping.

There seems to be quite a few part #s that have turned up on these, I'm not sure why. I seem to recall a thread where 6bblgt listed some of them once.

3461118 is called out for T/A and AAR, I know they have the unique check valve. Are there other differences as well?  I don't believe so?

Someone in this thread shows the 3461113 being from an AAR, unless the 3 is really an 8. Or maybe the parts catalog is wrong and 8 should be 3.  :dunno:

If anyone has a photo of the spring or a replacement that would be greatly appreciated. I'm looking at the bag with my linkage in it and of course, no spring. Hopefully it's around somewhere.  (Pulls more hair out).

x2 on the spring - and any aftermarket replacement that might be a good choice...

Thanks everybody!  Well, 1/4 the way there.... still need MC, spindles, calipers and discs...ouch

Here's a picture of my (now two piece) spring.  The replacement I used was from a generic GM, but had the right diameter of wire and coil length.  Let me know if you want me to pull out my caliper for some measurements.   As this is used mainly to return the pedal to full engagement of the brake light, there is some leeway.

Bonus info:wire diameter ~1.5mm, coil stack 46.5mm, coil diameter 11mm, 29.5 coils, overall length 85mm

I dug this out of the crate.  There's more,  but i need to move 2 cars and get the forklift.
  Hard to read the number on the edge, and my bendix logo is different.

What say you all?

Seems like it is what I need, and supposed to come with a rebuilt MC so if all goes well nd the MC is correct I will pick up the set.  Also have a line on the complete spindle, caliper, disc assembly so  :fingerscrossed:

That number on the edge will provide more info. If you can take a wire wheel to it, 8550 is what is on a 70. I have one that has the 71-74 master cylinder and linkage attached to it that reads 10931.

Mine does have 10931, so not worth squat ?
I'll have to use my new found knowledge on the others when I get them  out.

I wonder too what the 10931 would be worth compared to the 8550. The Midland Ross booster came out some time in the mid 71 model year and was used all the way to 74 so these are rare in their own right, being used for 6 months or so? Although they were used on both B and E bodies in 71 from what I can tell.

I would think anyone with an early 71 B or E-Body could use it, and if someone wanted the Bendix 'look' for a 70 E but didn't want to pay big $$ for an original 9171 master cylinder these 10931s would be an option. Could bolt up a Raybestos, Centric, or 71 master cylinder to it, and still look close enough to stock for many.

So much good info on details.  I think for my purposes what I have found is accurate enough.  Certainly if someone wanted to decode all the numbers and dates on every part there will be inconsistencies but it will hopefully look original and correct.
