Looking to better understand the Magnum 500 center cap adhesive backed metal end plate design that would be correct for a 70 Challenger Magnum 500 wheel. I've seen at least three different color circular bands on the metal inserts I've looked at. I've seen Silver, gold, and black colored circular bands. NOS caps seem to have black bands. Did the color of the band vary with year?  What's correct for a 70 Challenger?  I know that there are two different cap heights 2 3/16" and 1 15/16". My car has the short caps with gold band. They have pits. I believe the short version is OEM correct. But what about the band on the metal end plate?
Thanks

The colour band just faded and discoloured over the years as well. :alan2cents:

Ah, good point.  I hadn't considered that.  All the NOS ones I've seen are black which likely fades over time with heat and weather.
thanks
