I bought a Borgeson power steering unit for my HellCat swap. Peter Bergman offers a slip joint for your steering shaft, like the factory original, so you don't have to cut your shaft.
He was very professional to deal with. He offers a pump that will work with the Borgeson unit. Borgeson only handles 1450 PSI. Factory HellCat put's out 1600 PSI.
Peter offers an alternative pump set up.

Peter offers a kit that will make your install pain free. It contains everything. Even if you aren't doing a HellCat swap, you should check into this power steering upgrade?
Rack and pinion type feel, no more wobbly, loose, puppy wandering on the road feel? lol. Modern, tight, laser straight steering. No cutting of your steering shaft.

I promised Peter that I would give him a shout out here. Here it is! lol. You should seriously consider buying from this guy. He is TOP NOTCH, and only sells top notch
products. He is very professional. It was around $1800 bux, but everything was brand new, top of the line stuff! I was impressed. Going to be worth every penny.
Might be cheaper, depending on your situation? He includes everything you could need.

Peter is a super nice guy.

Yep, agree Peter is very good to work with. I got all the stuffs from him except I rebuilt my stock signaw pump. I am running hydroboost so pressure should be lowered when it gets to the Borgeson box. It feels much better than my worn out stock box and good center feel. No wandering center on highway speed. However, it is not quite like a modern rack system. It is also not as quick. It is quite good for our classic and I am happy with it.

I did have some issue when attaching the new Pittman arms to the Borgeson sector shaft. I ended up cleaning the pit man arm with a file in order to have it bolt up. The nut that came with the box is also made from softer steel. I finally used my stock nut to torque and sit the arm with proper thread engagement. The new box design no longer need any shimming  where early box had issue with.

Interesting, I've thought about this upgrade but have read many negative reviews.
Originally the boxes were welded, I guess the new version is cast?
But even now I see people complaining about the fit and alignment.
I'm still not sold it's worth the $2k?

Is is mandatory when doing a Gen3 Hemi swap?

Yes I believe the new one is Cast.

Borg box is not required for a 3g hemi swap. But i do have one.

I intend to use a hydroboost set up as well. Already purchased. Bought it a few years ago. Not from Bergman, but Peter says he can supply these as well.

Not required, but the guy installing my HellCat recommended it. A mutual friend put one in his Dodge Dart and was very impressed with the difference it made.
He didn't do a Gen 3 swap, just upgraded the steering. Haven't talked to him, but divorce led to him losing the car.

Rick Ehrenberg was also instrumental for me wanting this set up. I trust what he says.

My new Borgeson unit is cast. The reason for the slip joint is two-fold.  1) you don't have to cut your original steering shaft, and 2) it allows for flex in the chassis, just
like the original did. I have welded in sub-frame connectors, torque boxes, radiator core support, and fender braces. And may install engine bay brace connectors. Maybe.
BAC offers the slip joint connector separately.

But I don't want any damage from a solid steering shaft. It may be overkill. But when you are on a limited budget, you want to take every consideration into play.
Hence the lower psi power steering pump. A little research ahead of time could save you thousands later? That's all. Pennies on the dollar kind of thing.
