INSPECTION PAINT MARKINGS ON LEAF SPRINGS??

Need some help with paint inspection markings on leaf springs.. please post pictures of what you have!

I have seen different color markings on some untouched & restored cars.. but i have seen them in different colors. I thought it maby depended on engine application.. I would appreciate any help..


Here is froma T/A car and Dave Waldens 4 door 340 special cuda..

Im mostly intrested in the colors for E-body 340 cars..

Here's some notes from Dave Wise's book (E-Body only):


  • 1970 383+4 = Orange & White
  • 1970 340+6 = Pink & Green
  • 1970 Hemi Suspension (440 / 440+6 / Hemi) = Med Blue & White

A moparts member shared this.. He had a Nos leaf spring for a 340 car.. it has brown and medium blue paint on it.

I just soaked my 3400044 leaf springs in Evapo rust and found what appears to be a yellow and white mark on each spring. Is it possible that the yellow is a shade of green like in the OP's first picture ?

I would say the very first picture posted of Dave Waldo's car is yellow and white. :alan2cents:

I agree ...but it reminds me of a Day Glo florescent safety yellow, I'm not 100% mine is yellow. I thought I read years ago that the inspection marks were made in factory body colors.  :dunno:
