I see 2 different type of hold down brackets for a 70 E-body with 4 wheel drum brake master cylinder cover. Does anyone know which is correct. SPD April 416. One has tabs on each side and one is just wider where bolt is.

I just happened to have 3 sitting here.
The one like your top , is a late hamtramck,  and the one like your bottom is a late LA.
So i have no idea,  as the middle was off an early  LA.
I know I'm no help,  just adding confusion

I don't know what is correct nor had I even noticed that before.
I did look at 2 NOS examples I have and a reman. All have a rough area there that looks like those pieces might have been formed or stamped as a group, then cut apart to create the individual hold down clamps.
These were made by Bendix for 4 model years used on Mopars with 4 wheel drum brakes on most models. And beyond that probably until the 80s for service parts.  Bendix had several plants, and the millions of this part made might not have all been assembled in the same plant.  And the sub components might in some cases have come from several suppliers.  That means it's almost certain there's some variation in this master cylinder.
There are 3 casting numbers I know of for these.  The 2 NOS ones I have are 2225601 casting.  The reman is AANF.  I used to have some 2660809 but don't find any in my clutter.
The aftermarket MCs for these applications never had this type of clamp.  They used a cap and bale wire, or just a cap and bolt.
PG Classics has a repro clamp and cap available for these, other than those every one you'll see was made by Bendix.

Well you did help. Mine is a April Hamtramck, so it looks like I will use the top one. But I guess they used both. No way to be 100% sure.
