Hi Everybody,

Well it looks like the master (2229171) leaks under pressure, are these the go to guys to do the rebuild and install sleeve?

Thanks

Absolutely, they are the one and only trusted source to rebuild those, and Brad there has probably done hundreds of them at this point!

Think I'll give them a call tomorrow. Any idea on turn around and average cost?

Thanks
Mike

Hi,

Thanks for the heads up, I spoke to Brad today and the master cylinder is on its way to the warehouse. Should take about a month, he is a bit behind.

Thanks
Mike

Hi Everybody,

Spoke to Brad yesterday, wanted to make sure the item arrived without issue. Brad told me he has the master apart (pistons look good) and it's in the process of being baked. He believes it will be ready by Friday, now that's fast!

I do have a question about the master, were the reservoirs painted flat black out of the factory? If so, would high temp flat black suffice.

Thanks
Mike

Following since I'll have the same to have rebuilt.

The entire assembly was painted as a unit, except plugs were in place in the outlets when painted, and the flange surface was not painted.
They weren't painted with a very high quality paint from what I can tell.  When I've restored master cylinders, I've painted them with semi gloss Rustoleum from a rattle can.  On one of my cars that was worked on by a Mopar oriented shop, he repainted the master cylinder and it looked like he used gloss.  Someone who has expertise and paints with a gun would probably say they use a gloss black with a little flattening agent or something.
Here is an NOS example and a close up of a date code, you can judge for yourself how glossy the paint should be based on these.

Hi,

Just got the word from Brad, the master will be mailed back to me today, the rebuild is finished. Not bad she came in under $300 minus shipping. I should have it in about four days.

Thanks

Hi,

Thanks, looks like a satin finish not so much flat.

Did you have them paint it or leave it bare metal?

I didn't know having it painted was an option, I would of had it done as well.
