And here I have the opposite with my Road Runner. Car came with 43 (polished) but my build sheet list 22 (brushed) for wheel cover. Possibilities are endless. Maybe new purchaser saw the other style on a different car and the dealer swapped them out. Maybe the guy on the line didn't pay attention to the build sheet and on and on.

They hired visually challenged individuals to grab the trim rings. "It's round and smooth, yep that's it."  :haha:

Take a look at this summary - it might help...  https://forum.e-bodies.org/wheels-tires-brakes-suspension-and-steering/12/rallye-15-inch-trim-rings-summary/13661/msg184680#msg184680

Based on what I've read, 1970 came with polished rings and 1971 brushed.  But my 70 came with brushed and I doubt the rings were ever changed - who really knows what Dodge did back then.

:looney: Well, I bought them. After they arrive, I'll let you guys know if  :Thud: happens.

:Thud: :Thud: :Thud: :headbang: :headbang: :headbang:
So I told you guys I would let you know if the deal was bad. Well the deal was bad. It wasn't the fault of the seller though. It was my fault for making an assumption and not reading EXACTLY what the ad said. I received my packages today. Guess what was not in the boxes? Four Polyglas GT tires!!!
OMFG!! I just paid an insane amount for wheels, trim rings and centers. I went back and reread the ad and it sure didn't mention the tires. Holy Crap!! I'm an idiot.

Wow, every picture has the tires mounted to the rims which is somewhat misleading at a minimum.  From my experience the seller should have been very clear in stating the pictured tires were not included.  I would go back to the seller and attempt to negotiate a better price or look to ebay for assistance with the only problem being you would likely get stuck for shipping both directions.  Sorry this didn't workout as I don't see it entirely your fault.

Yep, I think you should see if you can work out something with the seller.  Be polite, explain why you were expecting the tires, and use the eBay message system.  You can elevate to a dispute if he won't budge or if he's an a-hole  Using the eBay message system allows them to see the whole story play out.

I think eBay is biased towards the buyer, so you may have more leverage than you think.

I remember reading that ad and it did not say whether the Tires were included or not, I did wonder that at the time.

But having the picture of the rims with the tires on i would assume that they were included and if not included should be clearly labeled, that is misleading and I believe if you bring it up with them you will succeed.  :alan2cents:

I sent a message. We'll see how this goes.  I'm not expecting anything, but it would be nice to be pleasantly surprised.

I looked at these when they were first listed. The date codes were all over the place Jan. 26 70, apr. 13 70, may 1 70, and nov. 13 70. Also didn't realize tires were not included.  Good luck

Damn!!!!!!!!!   Very misleading for sure. I have sold many things on Ebay and he clearly was misleading. He made no comment either way on the tires. He should have put in bold letters "tires not included" or better yet if they were not included he should have already had them removed for the ad. I thought the price was about right with the tires but without tires is the are way overpriced. Hopefully Ebay will get this fixed for you if the seller doesn't.

I looked back at the ad. When you see the pics and the word "complete" that would make anyone one think it's for everything seen in the pics. I have been using Ebay since 2000 and I thought it was for everything.

Actually...$750 for one correct 390 rim, with a factory correct trim ring and center cap isn't really out of line for what I've seen before

Correct trim rings $150-$200 each is not out of line
Rims $300-$500 each is about normal these days
Nice original centers can be $50 each as well

I can't dispute what you are saying since I have never purchased original wheel sets, however, I would not have made the purchase if I had known the tires were not part of the package. I am in agreement with the others that the ad was misleading whether intentional or not. It should have been clearly stated that the tires were not part of the purchase, for his protection as well as the buyers. Because here we are now, where he has a buyer who feels taken advantage of and is now going to have to do damage control. As I stated already, I made an assumption and I take full responsibility for that. I also don't expect anything. I have made my peace with it. I think at this point I am more interested in a sincere apology than anything else. I have definitely learned my lesson, but there is still a part of me that feels that this may have been intentional. A dialogue with this person will tell me all I need to know and dictate my next step. Thanks Alan.

I agree it was a bit misleading, I was just trying to make sense of it a bit for you... :drinkingbud:

I don't know who is paying these prices for wheels, I had this matched date code set of original 15x7s #2944390 wheels for sale for around a year here/eBay/moparts & got $950 9 months ago after trying to get more  :dunno:
