I'm reinstalling the steering column in my Challenger.  The FSM says that I must use a centering tool to center the shaft in the column at the lower end before tightening up the bolts that hold the column.  I don't have the tool.  I've installed it by just eyeballing the centering.  It is close, but not perfect.  Is there a better way to do this without the tool?  Is it really that important if the lockout tube in the column is not rubbing on the shaft?

Thanks,

Yep, have your buddy center the tube around the shaft while your head is under the dash tightening the 3 bolts.

As I recall (been awhile) ... You will kno if the adjustment isn't right cause there will be a starting issue or a shifting issue. Never had the tool.. but you'll know right away... (trust me :wrenching:
