Steering wheel alignment

I'm in the middle of redoing my e-body column and when I started, the steering wheel was always maybe 15-20 degrees off to the left of center.  I thought it could be tweaked at the steering coupler but I now see that and the crush can have the wide spline so you can't adjust there, and I see the pitman arm the same.

If my steering wheel is out of alignment how do I correct that?

Awesome vidoes Cody.

Thanks

What I do is stringline the left front wheel the length of the car to make sure it is straight. Then I adjust the left tie rod sleeve to when the steering wheel is straight (counting the turns). Then I add or subtract the same number of turns to the right side tie rod sleeve. I finish by confirming toe in then test drive the car.

That makes sense, I was thinking it had to be further down the steering linkage, and it does.

Thanks

Just seconding this post, yes, this would be adjusted by adjusting the tie rods on each side an equal amount.

Have the same issue.  Alignment guy says its too far out to adjust .  Says I'd loose turn radius on one side.  My wheel is pointed at 1:30 2 o'clock.  Had the  box rebuilt w a ratio change.

I'm thinking it need to go back and have the gears re-aligned?

I agree with the tie rod adjustments but also if you have installed the quick ratio pitman arm the one I have has no master spline so you could install it so it was off a spline or two causing issues.

My fast ratio pitman has 4 master splines forged into it.

In a perfect world  all your master splines line up, all measurements are all equal lengths, and you drive through rainbows while dodging unicorns. Reality is sometimes you need to tweak stuff or they are not perfectly matched. Not all measurements end up equal and not all splines allow these measurements to be so. If you are off a fraction to get the best compromise between wheel direction, steering wheel orientation, and tie rod length, then you are probably okay.
