About to order all new brakes for my 71 340 cuda with high performance rear 3;91  gears if that matters? Anyway I been looking into it and getting mixed answers. It has disc front too for wiw! It has 11 x 2 1/2 on it now but is that correct?

303 Mopar

If you are trying to keep it stock, go with drums.  If not, then look into something like Wilwood 4 piston discs or doctordiff.com rear kit.

"IF" it's an original 340 disc brake car then it would have come with 10" rear brakes (AAR & TA excluded). If it's originally a drum brake 340 car it would have come with 11" rears.

Chrysler must have learned something concerning brakes (& rear springs) with the set-up they used on the 1970 A53 "TRANS AM" cars.

During the 1971 model year - the specifics of the axle package (A36 3.55/A31 3.91) 340/383 cars changed - the "HEMI" suspension went away & the 10" rear drums with power front disc brakes also changed.

the earliest B41/B51 (disc brake/power brake) 1971 e-body I have a broadcast sheet from with 11" rear drums is SPD 419 (4/19/71)

your 11x2-1/2" rear drums may be correct - what's your car's SPD & what rear springs are on your car?

GOT a broadcast sheet?

No good on the broadcast sheet!  And the car was drag raced back in the day. It had ss springs in it! I took them out of coarse! Fender tag says 2/2/71!

Does this mean that the "TRANS AM" cars came with 11" drums in the back?

A53 AAR & T/A power brakes: front disc w/special pads & 11x2.5" rear drums - STANDARD (no other OPTION)

Interesting! I would have thought the 11 inch drums were wrong.
