Sydwaz always told me that this motor had more horspower than the 290 "they" said...

JUST TO CLARIFY...." Day Fifteen" is the actual time past, NOT the amount of days I've worked on it....I have several cars on the go...


So here we see the AAR spoiler removal for the first time in 48 years. Most surprising is the fact that it rubbed the paint so much that the car was actually rusting under the spoiler...
You can see the attaching hardware was painted with red oxide primer and the special nuts have black dum dum sealer in them. The four screws on the ends (this car only had three) are machine thread screws not like most reproduction kits with self-tapping screws. The mounting studs actually pulled the holes on the trunk lid. You can also see how the factory paint faded.

Started with media blasting some on the smaller stuff....here's the first batch...

These will all get painted this week, restored and packed away with the correct hardware, long before they're needed....

Lookin good Alan!  I'm loving all those nice clean pieces ready for paint.   Thanks for posting pics of the factory spoiler hardware.  I'm in need of the correct machine thread end screws.  They must have used them somehere else on Chrylsler vehicles, I just haven't figured out where. Lol.

They look like some of the screws that were used in assembling the grille and headlight hardware on my 74 Challenger, so they'll likely be found in any 72-74 depending on their actual size of course. Hope that works out for you!

They are called phillips pan washer head machine screws, put that in a google search & you'll find plenty of them...
