Installing rain gutter trim and molding

I want to make certain i install the foam strip properly under the chrome trim piece on the rain gutter. The trim wraps around the edge of the gutter. Does the foam go inside  the curved wrapping part or on the flat area? It seams to me that further into the curved part would help to keep moisture out better.

does it glue to the backside of the rain gutter or further in and runs parallel to where the rain gutter is attached to the body?

I run it on top of that seam where the gutter is attached to the body.
