pressure washed last weekend.
Prep for paint today.
Need to order some brake parts

oldmoparbuff

Plan is for new Non-Adjustable axle bearings, new drums and brake components.
I have a 3:23 gears now and would like to go 3:55.
Amazing what I can get done when my wife is out of town.

FYI the non adjustable brgs are far inferior to the factory tapered roller brgs
I would stay with the factory parts

:iagree: 100%

As for tapered bearings.
I am willing to stay with tapered.

What conditions should I look for to judge existing bearings?

Car has been well treated and existing bearings may be okay.

Chryco Psycho

Discoloration or pitting , they can last a lot of miles usually cleaning & re-packing with grease is all they need

A little progress.
Clean up the rearend and gave it a coat of Rust seal.
Brushed on, flowed out really well.
Will finish with Chassis Black

Nice job on the fender wells and the rear axle.

I used a dremel vibrating scraper with success and a heat gun; made the job a little easier, then a DA sander with 80 grit. Did my rear wheel wells the same way.
(You can still see the factory pattern of undercoating in the fender wells in pic)

On my rear axle, I used Eastwood Rust Encapsulator, Epoxy prime, then sealed with black semi gloss rustoleum.

Just my  :alan2cents:

Now I've gone and done it.
Left for two weeks on vacation to sunny Florida.
Midway through vacation I slipped and fell.
Ambulance ride to emergency room.

I tore my quadriceps tendon from left knee.

Made it home in a locked leg brace from ankle to thigh.

Surgery on 10/03, layed up now recouping.

4-6 months on crutches plus physical therapy.

Wanted to get rear diff and leaf springs rebuilt.

That’s terrible news!   On a positive note, at least you were in the US .. many places that are nice to visit are not places to go to the ER.   Hope you mend quickly, the progress was looking great!
Drive it like you stole it . . . And they're CHASING you!

Did manage to clean up and put rust seal on interior of roof. Did it while sitting on a riding mower inner tube. Don't have complete range of motion back yet.
