I have begun the cut and buff.  So far so good.  As you all know, I am new to this.  Many on the forum have offered some great advice.  I want to give a big shout out and Thank You to Mike Ross.  He lives near by.  He contacted me and offered to have us come out to his shop where he and his employee spent a couple hours with us teaching us do's and don'ts of the process.  He then sent me out of there with his big buffer to use on our car.  When it told him this morning that I was working on it, he dropped everything to come over and check out what I was doing.  He was here for a couple hours helping me.  This is what I love about the classic car community and this forum.
He has also offered his services to help me press the pigtails into the front side marker housings.

In the picture here. The center section is sanded 1000 to 2500 grit, then buffed with 3 pads and the corresponding compound.  I then waxed that section.  If the rest of the car turns out this good, I will be thrilled.  The rest of the hood is sanded in 1000.  Sadly, my boy headed back to school yesterday, so I am flying solo again.

I'd really like to meet the guy in person.  He has been super helpful with things over the phone/internet and he seems to really enjoy being a part of keeping these old cars on the road.  Would be nice to see him active here again.

Agreed... Time to let him back in...

I don't think Mike is banned, he chose to leave... He feels that someone who screwed another member should be banned & since that isn't happening he chose to leave...

You can't PM him on this site, He would not agree to stop picking on said member!   :stop:

GoMango, I met Mike in Brunswick at Laurel Square (you probably know where that is) a couple of years ago. Unknown to me at time, Mike made a bet with his son-in-law that I would know who his was. He mentioned his shop and I said I had been there, but it was closed at the time. He then introduced himself and told me about the bet. Nice guy. Had him look my car over because I believe it to be a mostly original car. He did and confirmed it was mostly original. Haven't had any work done, but first impressions were very good.
