So, getting into my 73 Barracuda I looked way up under the dash . The metal there is painted a nice shade of blue. Are all dash undersides this color or is it painted to match the car?

Are you talking the back side of the dash, or the firewall. the firewall would be body color.  :alan2cents:

I was inside the car, looking underneath the passengers side dash. On the underside, all the metal is blue.

No that's not normal...I think your car has likely had some work done to it in the past.

What type of work? All the metal looks great and I see numbers stamped in at least two places. The blue matches some of the blue I see in the engine compartment. I'll try to get under there again and take some pics.

Please post some pictures, of the car in general and of this blue area...It's hard to picture what you are describing  :takepicture:

In my opinion that dash frame was originally blue in colour from the factory.  I'm assuming by your question that the outside of the dash is NOT blue any more ?

It does appear that way.  I have not seen a dash frame painted before.  Is that common?

What do you mean ? All dash frames are painted....the amount of overspray colour on the inside obviously varies, but they were painted, it's just my opinion that that blue looks original to me

Yes, that's correct. Interior is now black including the dash pad. I do see hints of the old blue interior, such as the seat belt housings losing some of their black paint revealing blue. I highly doubt now that this was a pink car. I think it was repainted pink and switched to black interior. In a few small places I see blue paint under the current paint job. I am thinking 1973 true blue.

I just had not noticed the over spray on the few pads I have had is all.  I'm going to go look as I hadn't noticed before.  thanks
