Decklid Trim Install

Quick question on the best method to install the aluminum decklid trim. I have the plastic clips that go through out the center length and the threaded clips for each end. On the plastic clips, is it better to install them on the decklid first and then snap the trim over the top? Being plastic, it appears I might only get one shot to do it right so I thought I better ask people who do it more often. Hard to see me getting the little plastic pins lined up right otherwise.

On real Chrysler trim you could install the clips in the decklid and then using your hand smack the trim over top. That won't work with the flimsy repo stuff.  You need to install the clips in the trim and then align them with the holes in the decklid. You just line them all up before running the nuts down is all.

I examined a spare decklid and I think I just found my answer. It looks like the plastic clip goes in the hole and the plastic stud gets driven in from the outside to pin it in place. The trim would have to snap over it afterward but I agree with you that the threaded end clips would need to go into the trim before final install.

Whoops: You're right, I am wrong on that one. Only one way they will go on. I was thinking hood trim.

I bought the OER deck lid trim and clips for my challenger and I put the  plastic clips on the deck lid ( no other way they go on ), 2 end clips on the trim and it popped right on with ease. Years ago the top door trim on my Cuda was impossible to snap on. I hope the new stuff is better when it comes out.

Actually it went on super nice. The plastic clips were nice and snug to the paint and the trim snapped perfectly onto the clips with little fuss. They hold the trim well so no rattling or gap between the trim and body.
