Rocker to door gap

I started to align driver door to original quarter yesterday in preparation of changing the quarter.

I notice the lower gap to rocker is noticeably smaller compared to passenger side d=3/8, p=1/2.   

Do you guys run into this, any tips ?   thx

LOL! Welcome to the wonderful world of Mopar quality control!! I'd be willing to make a small wager that there are no two E bodies ever built that were symmetrical AND a good gap. In my car, you could shove your fingers under the drivers door between it and the rocker- and I don't have particularly skinny fingers - while the passenger side was about 3/8ths. With the 1/4s in place you're limited in your adjusting and, again in my case, I ended up welding a piece of 3/16" rod onto the bottom of my drivers door. If you haven'y got the 1/4s on 'er yet, you can fit the door to the rocker and then make the 1/4 conform to them. The fun continues!

My 74 has the original quarters, rockers, doors.  The gap on the driver's side is about 1/2" (I can get my fingers in there) , the gap on the passenger's side is about 3/8".

I've often wondered about the timing of the 74 Tooling Cuda.  https://classics.autotrader.com/classic-cars/1974/plymouth/cuda/101300090  My VIN is 161XXX and the Tooling Cuda VIN is 183950, so after mine.  Were the body panel fixtures / jigs out of spec and a correction was needed?  Therefore the Tooling Cuda was built as validation for the correction?  It looks like they CMM'd the whole exterior of the car.  The photos of the Tooling Cuda aren't great, but the door to rocker gaps look fairly equal to the fender and quarter gaps.

LOL, yep! I was actually working at a Chevy dealer when the "new" square bodys came out in '73, but we were so busy changing fenders on Vegas that the gaps were a non-issue- until you had to actually work on the SOB's!
