Ya, I won't argue that welding the spring is risky. But the tension on it is low and it only interacts with the rollers, so I'm giving it a try. Also, my rollers are in great shape and spin freely so I'm not worried about them rolling over that spring at all.  The pin I'm not too happy with and may replace with a new one. I'll just use the new one from a re-bush kit. However, IMO, the pivot holes in the hinges are going to be just fine. Welding up and redrilling holes is a common refurbishment effort in a whole host of industries, especially in auto restoration, and I don't see that as a detriment and doubt it will increase the wear or potential failure rate.

Again, you provide a valuable service that is required by a large percentage of our membership. I'm simply not one of them.
