I got a rebuilt 3 speed wiper motor a while back and when I tried to connect it to the linkage, it is not lining up correctly.  I have the linkages pushed as far left as it will go, but it is like it is too long still.  This is the linkage that was on it when we took it apart, so I know it is right.  I have also verified the crank arm is correct for a 70.  It is a 2822289.  Any suggestions?
Thanks.

Can you run the wiper motor and make sure it's in the parked position ?
I've taught you everything you know....but I haven't taught you everything I know....

Yes. I verified that it is in the parked position.

Is the wiper motor a 3431077, or something else? 70-71 variable speed linkage has an end that looks like this-

EV2RTSE

72-74 linkage-

If the motor is a different part # you'll have to re-clock it-

It looks like ours is clocked correctly.

So, it's the same linkage that was there when you took it apart. That being the case I'd have to guess that it's not all the way to the left. Maybe something is holding it back? Are the wiper arms off of the splined pivots? If not, take those off and try again.

What happens if you put it on the motor crank first then try attaching it to the left pivot.

Can't wait to find out what the answer is going to be to this.

Make sure the black tab is 90 degrees in relation to the silver arm. If it binds it stops at about the location shown in the first pic

Based on your pic, If it's 1970 linkage then the primary arm is on backwards.  See comment & pic by EV2RTSE.

I believe that I have the rod from the motor to the driver's side pivot in the same orientation as @EV2RTSE shows.  I believe that I have the correct part number linkages 282293 and 282291.  I think I have tehm assembled correctly.  I am pretty frustrated with this, so I am REALLY close to being ready to shorten the 282293 linkage by 1/4" and moving on.  I can't imagine why I am having this problem, but I am frustrated to say the least.  I can take out 1/4" and TIG weld it back together and be done.  I just hate not understanding the problem.

You have all the correct part number linkages. I wouldn't cut anything especially not that "293" linkage, they're like hen's teeth. There's just got to be something off in the installation. Here's a picture of mine before I put it in the car. It's a high res pic so you can enlarge it.
