A lot if not most of the R & V code cars were race cars & were modified decades ago they were bought & built with a purpose , not many bought Hemi Cudas to drive to work

I used to really like tubbed,big-tire cars. However, the allure of a one-trick-pony has since worn off for me. I like to go pretty well in a straight line, turn and go down the road at 80mph without a worry. I've not owned a "pro-stock" car, but it seems like it'd be limiting when it comes to long range.

Driving around town, pro touring handling and looks is the way to go for me. The new blower or centrifugal is way more efficient and powerful for street application than the old root style blower. definitely Pro stock if battling on the track.

Pro-stock on the street and freeways is dinosaur idiotic.

I think the Darts look really good as a prostreet, and less expensive to get into to.

Liked the purposeful look of the pro street cars but was often disappointed by the large percentage of  owners I talked to who never tracked their cars, often stating they had too much money in them to risk hurting them.

Two of my favorites.
Actually saw the black one "Dark Lord", as I was at the time interested in buying it, at a Van Nuys Spring Fling event a few years ago.
It had a mini-tub done in such a way that a slightly modified rear seat could still be installed unlike the normal gutting and elimination of the rear seat.

If I had my choice of BIG TIRED e-bodies it would be David Wolfe's 73 Challenger with:  345/35R x 19's on 19x12 rims on the rear, 19 x 8's up front, 605 cu. in. HEMI with 886 hp and 800 ft lbs tq running on pump gas. Best of both worlds.

Back in the early 90's my brother-in-law, Mike Wagg and I built this one.....At the time "Pro-Mod" race cars were becoming very popular at all the race tracks, so we went one step further with "pro-street" and called this "pro-mod for the street" 

One of the first tubbed cars to put a crazy pro-mod style wing on the back and a blower almost higher then the roof....

This was a full frame car with a one piece removable front clip...shaved drip rails and flush mount windshield and back glass ...way before it's time.
The oddest thing was that the car was a small block...that surprized everybody....It was a 340 with Direct-Connection W2 heads...custom made intake and headers....

Started off with a 71 318 Barracuda :haha:

I have seen that car at shows and seems to me I remember it doing donuts in a grassy field one day . . .  :yes:
