Hello everyone!

I am going to be looking to purchase a V code 1970 Cuda 4 speed car that are for sale from a private collection. I have not seen the car in person yet. I know some of what to look for but am not an expert. I am hoping I can get some advice on authenticating the car and what else to look for as there are many rebodies out there. I was told there is several identify things on 6-pack cars.

ie; Dana rear ends (on 4 speed cars), torque boxes, leaf spring mounting reinforcement plates, fuel line and return line????

Any advice and tips on what to look for is much appreciated.

Front torque boxes?  I'm not aware of that.  There's a skid plate on the K member of V codes. Rear torque boxes yes.
Dana standard on 4 speeds and track pack optioned autos.
Cowl and radiator support have partial VINs stamped on them.
Any paperwork or other documentation on the car?
Ask about owner history and contact info on previous owners if the seller has it. Contact previous owner(s).
Fender tag? Share a picture here if it exists, blot out the VIN if you wish.  Dan 6bblgt and a few others here can opine if it's legit.
Is it a shaker car? Look at the hole for the fresh air control cable in the firewall if it is.
Do a search for the VIN online and see if you find any mention of it.
Contact Barry Washington of the Hamtramck registry to see if he has any records on the VIN.
Those are the tips that come to mind.

@JH27N0B thank you for responding. I am going to look at the Cuda in a couple of days, so I don't have any pictures yet.

Yes, it's a shaker car.  I believe the Cuda has a build sheet, fender tag, and the original motor is in the car.

@plum crazy rt sounds like a great find......anxious to see what you find!

Make sure in the trunk the access to the shocks has the hole at the top, also look at the strut bar #s, 780/81, remove the cowl plastic screen on the drivers side and run your hand on the inside of the cowl near the numbers to ensure no welding has taken place.

For a real V code, I think it would be money well spent to have an expert look over the car before you purchase.

70_440-6Cuda The car has an older restoration. Appears to be a very nice Cuda.

Hey plum crazy rt. I know you don't want to offer too much until you lock down your shot at it, but if it's local or in Washington for a while, us old timers might know of it.
So put up some details,  or we'll have to wait to hear.
Hopefully it's not that fy1 yellow one again. (It might be an auto.)

This for sure! I seen a vert that had been altered years ago.

Sorry for the late reply, long day at work. This car is located in Southern Oregon.
