Is there any way to prevent paint from burning off the exhaust manifold heat shield on the 340 engines

I painted mine with Eastwood's high temp cast iron paint, but I don't think they make it anymore. Or so I was told by a friend the other day. Might try a powder coating. Just don't coat the sealing surface.

Good question  :D

I use flat black BBQ paint, I have the manifolds ceramic coated cast grey....assemble the whole works then paint the engine with orange engine paint....the shield and manifolds only get hit with overspray.

And then the paint must burn off the manifolds but does it stay nice on the shields, it seems that every picture I see of cars with the shields they all look nice and freshly painted are they just not driving their cars or can the paint on the shields really be made heat proof
