What do the rivets holding your VIN tag on the dash look like ?

Here they are:

Yeah, those aren't original... Stock rivets are what's called Rosette rivets, they look like the photo....

Mark_B

Thank you for the information.  The dash pad fitted has a crack down the centre too, so think it's time I fitted a 1970 repro dash pad.

Track down Rosette rivets, when you remove your VIN tag from the current pad use a dremel tool with a cut off wheel to cut the rivets off from the back side so the tag doesn't get damaged...

Does anyone know, is A66 the same spec as an R/T, just with a small block engine?

Same suspension & brakes, tires & wheels... Same hood & rear valance with tips....  A66 does not come std with rally dash, R/T does...

Mark_B

Interesting.  Thanks for the information.

I think the bumblebee stripe came with them as well, maybe someone can confirm?

Bumblebee stripe was std.....   And Longitudinal I believe was a no-cost option.... As was delete....

On an R/T Longitudinal was std.... With the bumblebee as a no cost option..... Also Delete was no cost...

Looks like a nice car, matching numbers drivetrain, interesting color combo, 4-speed, fender tag...
I'm guessing 45K plus commission, 49.5K total... There is probably a reserve, since it's Mecum.
Maybe this sale will help our A66's get more respect (and value!)
You'll see 10 T/A's and three Hemis before you'll see another stock A66 in the auctions...

The A66 made $50,000.  Not bad at all.

I watched it, too, no sale at that price, reserve not met...
I think it was a fair price, who knows how much the owner was looking for... Of course he'd only get 45 after commission.

$50k was quite respectable.  Stayed up till 1:30am (UK time) to watch that and it didn't sell!

I have been tracking A66 Challenger price for a number of years.

A66 prices usually topped out at about 50K. with some examples selling in the mid to high 50's into the 60's less frequently.
They were always in the shadow of someone saying "but they are not an RT"-

A66 convertibles sold for a little more, and would max out at about $70K, most sold in the 50-60 K range
Of course prices are based on # 1-2 rated cars that are original or "correctly" restored.
More then decent "Driver cars" usually sold somewhere in the mid 30's K
These are prices that I have tracked over the last 7-8 years.

May be times are a "changing"?
