Anyone added another leaf to their rear springs?

Hi All,

has anyone done this?  Would be grateful for any photos.

I'm hoping to do this to increase the ride height of the car at the back.

I cut off the eyelets at the old stock spring and added below the new spring top piece with eyelets. All new spring straps to reassemble and you need longer spring bolts. I also got new u bolts. The replacement springs were Mopar XHD from Summit and made in Mexico. The leaf thickness is slightly less than stock and was sitting low. After I added the leaf, it now sit with the top of the tire slightly above the wheel arch. I like it the way it is. Word of caution is that you will need good shocks to control it. You might also find it a little too stiff.

I don't have a recent picture. I can try this weekend.

I had mine re arched and added a leaf.

Ridetech shocks and it's a nice level ride.

Thanks for the info.  Did it take the rear suspension up by an inch or so?

I have done this many times , either using a second main leaf with the eyes cut off or a new full leaf under the main leaf it is a nice bump in rear height & stiffness , I usually clamp the front section of the spring pack with a square top U bolt this stiffens the front spring section which really helps traction

was also looking into this add a leaf.

Ebody stock leaf spring main leaf.
     From front spring eye to alignment pin is 22"
     From Alignment pin to rear spring eye is 35"
     Spring eye to spring eye is 57"
     Width is 2.5"

Dodge Dakota Spring main leaf. 1986 to 2004
    From front spring eye to alignment pin is 24"
    From Alignment pin to rear spring eye is 32"
    Spring eye to spring eye is 56"
    Width is 2.5"

This using the original 70 R/T Hd springs , nothing added except front clamps
I have never had the car sitting right , the tires on the rear are 275/50 , the front are 255/60 & are taller than the rear , so far I have no found a 9-10" wide 50 series tire for the front . Yes I have looked , It could be easily done with 18" rims .
The car is also sitting on a angled driveway.
