This is a GREAT looking car. I really like the color combination and options. The VIN BS23R0B226996 is on the Canadian Hemi list as being sold new out of Gatineau Quebec (near Ottawa Ontario). The fender tag is a reproduction and shows a Scheduled Production Date (SPD) of 304 (March 4th, 1970). I didn't think FJ6 was available that early ... I thought it became available later in the month?? I wonder if it is a real FJ6 car ... or not. Any of you old Canadian guys from that area remember this car??

Another thing that seems off is the relationship of the 304 SPD to the VIN sequence. '70 Hamtramck cars in the 226xxx range have SPDs about two months earlier in early January?? Conversely, cars with a 304 SPD are more in the 270xxx range of VINs?? Not bashing the car cause I really like it ... I'm just curious as to what it may have been like when brand new.

So, L34 was removed
     N42 added
      R35 added

And a Hemi Fender tag was added.

Interesting things to change.  Why would someone change those wo items for the sake of having a fake tag?  Odd for sure

It must be frustrating to pay for reproduction fender tags and still get the option codes wrong.
They put R36 instead of R35 - AM/FM Thumbwheel Radio. R36 does not exist.
Time to get another fender tag made.  :sorry:

The removal of L34 is correct as the Road Lamps were standard up until approximately May 1970 when the L34 code became an option on non-Cudas. This required its addition to the fender tag for all cars receiving the option.

It is a very nice car that needs a few things done to take it up a notch. Cowl blackout should be on a March SPD car. Missing radiator shroud blackout is easily remedied. Unpainted master cylinder, another easy fix. All in all, a worthy HemiCuda. A broadcast sheet would answer everything but it appears that is not with the car.

The FJ6 - Sassy Grass Green was announced on January 28, 1970 for "Early February Production" so it is possible that this car was painted FJ6.

Also, I am not knowledgeable on the C62 - 6-Way Adjustable Seat option (requires leather seats) and the C26 - Overhead console on non-GranCoupe cars. I have seen C62 on fender tags and C26 but am not sure whether C26 can be on the fender tag by itself.

lots of problems with both of those FAKE tags - the car was NOT FJ6 when new!   :drunk:

I tend to think so too.

As an enthusiast of these cars I would sure like to know it's true "identity" as to it's original color and options??
Cheers!

Tis' better to have owned classic Mopars and lost than to have never owned at all (apologies to Alfred Lord Tennyson)

So, it's a tag whore.
Not too many that I see have had two new tags.

Must have been a pretty lame hemi car for two tags to have been made.

Oh, wait,  it probably just didn't have N96 on the original car.
Without that the car loses some 40K worth of value so that must be what is going on with it.

As soon as I see N96 on a tag I almost immediately assume the car is a fake.

ALL '70-'71 hemi 'cudas have a SHAKER hood - it was an OPTION late '70 (4/70) & '71 on HEMI Challenger R/T

OH yeah, I forget about that.
I know so little about the R's and V's.
Thanks for reminding me of that Dan!
