I've purchased 2 straps that attach the heater hose to the fender for my 70 'cuda & both of them have melted from the water going to the heater core. Engine is running 190 degrees (tested). Anybody else had a similar problem or am I missing something? Thank you, Joe

Missing something American made?

Here's what Roseville Moparts sold me. Thank you, Joe

melted, wow. if they are close to the exhaust manifolds, it could be excess heat from a hot running engine.  these straps may soften, but never seen one melt.

Then what hold the heater hose in place? I didn't drill any holes.....Joe

that strap was considered optional by many mopar owners over the years.  when the hoses heat up and cool down through several cycles, they become pretty relaxed run through the bracket at the alternator, and over to the fender well and back to the cowl.  The only reason I ever used the strap was to keep them from touching the exhaust manifolds. if the hoses aren't drooping too close to the manifolds, you may not need the strap at all.

I used a hard plastic squarish strap that snaps together at the top to secure my heater hose's. It was included in my strap kit.

Looks beautiful!

Saw a thread on Moparts where DMT mentioned a bad batch of plastic from other vendors.
He got complaints, and they weren't his parts.

That doesn't sound right, those straps shouldn't be seeing that kind of heat. Might be worth checking hose routing or proximity to the exhaust/manifold.

Are the hoses Mopar hoses? Are they too lightweight?I would wrap the hoses in that spot with electrical tape and the strap should hide most of the tape.

That plastic is supposed to withstand >400F, it's not the hose melting them, unless they are defective.
