Hi, I have a 70 Cuda with a warranty motor, how do I verify that it is actually a warranty replacement Hemi? It does have the rivet present in the freeze plug boss, right side middle, is there any other way? Your help is greatly appreciated. Miron.

Welcome @miron   :welcome:  Looks like you have a pretty rare engine!

Do you have a photo of the casting date and the VIN pad near the oil pan rail?  What are the numbers on the front pad too?

Is the oil pan on the engine right now or can you get to the rail section of the block near the starter?  Here's some photos that might help.

without paperwork or known owner history probably not bulletproof evidence but here goes .....

warranty in first 12 months of service, replacement after the warranty expired or replacement during a restoration in the past couple of decades??

can "we" assume the VIN pad is blank?  got a pic?
do you know the "in-service-date" of the hemi'cuda?  if not - what's the car's SPD "Scheduled Production Date"?
do you have a picture of the assembly date info off the bottom of the block?

is the hemi'cuda FK5 & automatic?

miron

I do have previous owner history
Yes VIN pad on block is blank
Build date is Saturday Dec. 13th 1969
I can't read any stamping on the pad
Yes the car is FK5 automatic

what does the oldest known owner say about the engine & what timeframe

I think I tried to find the funds to purchase that car ~ 10 years ago  & it's been on eBay recently, "new" owner?

Still the same owner and its still available.
how closely did you look at the car 10yrs ago?
That's  exactly how long iv'e owned it.

 Hi,

Curious on Transmission warranty replacements? Anything special done in this case? Would they not just change out a trans instead of rebuilding, depending on what is wrong I assume. A wrong trans in a car (part # to Build sheet#) but a # and build date withing 2-3 months after car was built and possibly delivered. Could this be considered a warranty Trans? Curious to thoughts on this.

That was a really cool car. I remember seeing it at Julius' with the 66 Hemi he had at the same time.

Lots of original markings on that one. It comes up in discussion from time to time.

We'd really like to see it displayed at a Spring or Fall Fling ;) ....Just down the freeway from you.

I bet there are hundreds of scenarios for warranty work/replacement
what kind of car & is the current transmission a heavier-duty unit VS. what would've been spec'd for the car?

My brother was a mechanic at a Chrysler dealer from 65 until 72 they fixed anything that didn't have a broken casting.

Yes for sure many many scenarios. Part number does not match the build sheet and the trans build date is 2-3 months from the original trans build date. Still HP trans was installed. The close dated code makes me think a warranty situation exchange before sale of the car....maybe? Yes I do believe they (dealers) would fix anything and everything if possible,,,,yet would in some cases it be easier to just pop one out and another in...or yes maybe a broken case or major damage was a reason? Again many scenarios, motors and transmissions. They were just cars back then and getting the customer fixed and out the door was the name of the game...as is today.

This is why i don't think non- numbers matching is a big discount to Hemi cars.
