QuoteWhat I found with those was that the 330 horsepower auto trans cars used Carter carbs

I can confirm that my N-code Gran Coupe (330hp) had the Carter AVS.  And yes, the cam is different from the 335 hp N- code engine.  The 330hp 383 shared the same cam and heads as the 383 2bbl L-code engine.

I thought that N-code cars were 335hp ?  I could be wrong   :notsure:

1970 B, C, E-bodies - E63 & "N" code specifically indicates 383 cu.in. with a 4 bbl carburetor (both 330hp & 335hp)

335hp = 383HP & is painted ORANGE
330hp = 383 Four-Barrel & is painted BLUE

335hp = HOLLEY carburetor = ORANGE
330hp = CARTER AVS carburetor = BLUE

Charger & ALL "badged" musclecars (Challenger R/T "JS", 'cuda "BS", Super Bee "WM", Road Runner "RM") = 335hp ORANGE

ALL C-bodies = 330hp BLUE

ALL "pedestrian" B & E bodies with manual transmission (Challenger SE, Gran Coupe, Coronet 440, Satellite, etc.) = 335hp ORANGE

ALL "pedestrian" B & E bodies with automatic transmission (Challenger SE, Gran Coupe, Coronet 440, Satellite, etc.) = 330hp BLUE

other years was a completely different "ballgame"  :looney:

Were big and small blocks in 1969 blue until a certain date, then switched to orange?

there were no changes made during the model year

1969 engine assignment was handled completely different & probably contributed to the manner in which '70s engine availability was handled

1970 = "corporate blue" engine paint on 318, 383 2bbl, 330hp 383 4bbl, 350hp 440 4bbl
1970 = "street hemi orange" paint on 340, 383HP, 440HP, 440+6, HEMI

1969 = "turquoise" engine paint on 273, 318, 340, 383 2bbl, 330hp 383 4bbl, 350hp 440 4bbl
1969 = "street hemi orange" paint on 383HP, 440HP, 440+6, HEMI

during 1969 there were "badged" musclecars with 330hp "turquoise" painted 383 4bbls when equipped with A/C

This answers some of the questions on my 1970 gran coup 383 N code D21 4-speed!!! So now this brings another question, is my car suppose to have the HP exhaust manifolds? Original engine long gone.

6bblgt

what we have come to call "HP Exhaust manifolds" are actually "Dual Exhaust manifolds" & Yes, all 1970 383 engines with a 4bbl carburetor (HOLLEY or CARTER AVS) have dual exhaust

Ok, and my fender tag has N41 code. but witch exhaust manifolds would it have came with the log style or the ram horn style?
