Greg Nelson had that Cuda at MCACN in 2013, so he has owned it at least 7 or 8 years.  He certainly didn't buy it for a quick flip!
He is a previous owner of my '71 V code Challenger and added its wing spoiler and front chin spoiler during his ownership.  He also added spoilers and billboards to his '71 GY3 V code Cuda convertible.
And maybe the shaker hood on that car.
So I don't think Greg adds these options to his cars to make them worth more or more sale-able, he does it because he likes them.  Personally I wish he hadn't added the spoilers to my car.  :pullinghair:

Thanks yal for the comments and information.  I really appreciate your knowledge.

It is an awesome car!

I admit, cars look great with all those options, but I find it way more interesting when the car is restored as new. It makes them much more unique, not every car was born with a shaker hood and spoilers.... :looney:  Not in a million years would I consider adding options to a very rare 1 of 17 car..

I see he has his curious yellow V code Cuda listed at the Mecum auction too.
I got the impression that car was the centerpiece of his collection.  I wonder why he's selling, it sounds like he's got rid of most of his great cars.  Hope Greg's OK!

I wonder if he saved the original hood and trunk lid, so it could be put back on.  :alan2cents:

IMO the Playboy sticker on the rear adds some value!  :ohyeah:

I don't see a Mopar Ponderosa web site anymore.  Am I missing something?

He has been selling some off since he added this one to his collection.......for a pretty high investment.

Did he add to his collection?  When I was up visiting a couple of years, he was storing that car for the owner.

Here is the link to the auction:

Sold for 3.5M.  It is really interesting to watch the auction.  I don't think the owner really wanted to sell it.  Mecum was working him over to lower the reserve, he held fast and got his number.

Maybe he doesn't own it....... :notsure:  I just assumed he did when I seen it at his place back in 2018.

When I restored a V Code 71 Cuda for Kevin Suydam it was right after he sold this Hemicuda convertible for $3.5...He told me on the phone that he had no intentions of selling it at the time and regretted letting it go... :dunno:

I've followed a lot of Greg's comings and goings at his Ponderosa. Greg is obviously a very astute and savvy business man in that I don't think I have ever seen him come out of any deal on the minus side. I'm sure he has a very well thought out plan in place for bringing these two V-code 'verts to auction. Now we'll just have to wait and see if the auction is actually held and how it all plays out.
Cheers!
