Leaving california, moving to canadian border....storage questions

Gotta chime in on a couple things.
Batteries actually like the cold - as long as they are healthy and charged they will not freeze unless you go much further north. Internal chemical reactions that discharge the battery are slower in cold. I worked in cellular telecom for years - back up batteries always put in the coldest part of the shelter. Batteries hate heat. Just don't leave the battery on a concrete floor in the cold - uniform temp - not cold on the bottom.
And Battery maintainer (not a trickle charger) is the best solution - must be a battery charger with a maintenance cycle. A simple trickle charger is a current device - it will keep pushing amps into the battery more than the battery wants to have and over charge it. A maintainer is a voltage device - keeps the battery cells at their desired float voltage which avoids sulfating. The batteries in both my 2010 charger and challenger are original - maintainer on anytime they sit more than a couple days. Cuda does not have a battery yet lol.
Oil change before storage is a must - well for me unless I drove less than 1000km (600 mi) in the season. Same reason newer cars still require oil change on time if mileage is low - short trips, temp variations or any used oil will gather moisture and create acids in the oil - that acid eats at bearings when it sits. I replaced a crank for a guy many years ago that sat in dirty oil - and you could see the spots on my Cuda bearings as it had dirty oil in it when I bought it.
Winter start ups bad - like someone else said due to condensation - bad for lots of things including oil, exhaust. I used to do a winter start on cars I stored outside - till i realized the big rust stain on the driveway was coming from the inside of the muffler.
Fuel stabilizer - I use it with carburetors - I find it is not needed with fuel injection - even with ethanol gas. EFI fires right up in the spring like it ran yesterday. My carb'd bike on the other hand is a bitch to start regardless of what you put in the gas but that is partly cause the old GoldWing needs to run the mech fuel pump to get the floats filled up.
I used to store on jack stands - don't have the headroom with the storage hoist now - so I pump up the tires - can go up to sidewall max. I do on the Challenger - the lighter Daytona I just put in the 40+ psi range.

I read CA will not let you go easy and will tax you any way they can. You have to be completely cut off like no bank accounts, properties, cars register in CA, no outstanding loans in CA etc. if you come visit and live a month or two, they will get your $.

This is true, the California Franchise Tax Board believes they own you and are entitled to their cut from your income.

Even when you follow all the protocol and register your cars in another state. They will continue to threaten you for lack of payment. My brother moved to Ok, did everything proper and the nasty letters threatening he will lose his license just kept coming.

No family or any of my lifes circle of friends remain in Ca.
In past I would never have considerd the possibility of leaving. That has changed.
My current job situation is the best I have had my entire career. So that warrants staying. Days remain numbered though.

I read recently that Uhaul charges roughly $4,800.00 to rent a 1 way out.
And only approximately $1,600.00 to rent one coming in...

I believe it is the opposite 2 move out for every 1 moving in unless you are counting border jumpers .
