Ha, ha: A 69 Camaro is okay but the 70.5 Camaro has it all over it for me. Same reason, the 70.5 looks more like a road car. I agree that the 70 Cuda rear treatment is awesome! The blacked out tail panel and pipes through the valance is absolutely over the top! Of course the Challenger with the center back up light and tips in the bottom of the valance is beautiful as well.

How can the 71 challenger have so few votes . . . Is it that bad?  Cuda was the car to choose in 71?  How many challengers did they sell that year compared to cuda?  Hmmmm

Drive it like you stole it . . . And they're CHASING you!

I may be in the minority but i prefer a '70 Cuda over a '71, and a '71 Challenger over a '70.   8)

I may be in the minority here but I prefer round tail light Cuda's, and any Challenger.   :alan2cents:

Interesting how views have changed and I wonder how much the simple rarity of the 71 Cuda drives its desirability now. Back in the day, the press blasted it and the public avoided it. Sales figures for 71 Cudas were way down compared to 71 Challengers, 16492 vs 21760.

As a '71 Challenger owner I guess I'm not surprised to see they don't get the loving they should as I've seen that for years.  I've never figured out why that is though.  I have 70 Challengers too, and there are styling clues of each year I prefer.  The 71s grille looks better, although a friend of mine pointed out the 70s is metal and 71 is plastic.  The 70s tail lights are better looking hands down.  The 71 R/T's fake brake cooling scoops look cool.  The 71s R/T side stripes look better than either the 70 longitudinal stripe or rump stripe.
So for me it's a wash, I like '70 and '71s.
For cudas, the clean mean looking 70 is number 1, you can have the JC Whitney catalog dress up bling look of the '71.  Some day I'll get an AAR to keep my T/A company!

I think the 71 Challengers are pretty cool too. I like a 70 but the tail panel blackout of the 71, 71 grille, 71 quarter scoops, 71 stripes are all really neat as well. I wish my first E-body had been cleaner.

What is the story behind that picture? The only difference between the car in that picture and how mine is optioned on the fender tag is the gas cap. Blue, stripe delete, vinyl top, dual painted mirrors, r/t, I would very much like to know about where that picture came from.

I've had both.  My first car at 17 was a 70 Challenger and now I have my AAR. :veryexcited:

Flat: That car died a few decades ago. It was pretty rusty, I think it may have come from Ontario originally. It was a 383, 4 speed, suregrip, rear sway bar, Deluxe houndstooth interior, no console car. It had the body side moldings, PS, PB, Drum brakes.

Gosh, I feel bad for not voting for 72-74 Challengers now...

My first e-body was a 73 rallye and I loved that car!
