I messaged the seller and told him it was MY OPINION that the BCS was a reproduction and that he might want to mention that in the ad....that's just my opinion....
Here's his reply:
I appreciate the input - really. Almost 20 years with perfect feedback. If there are mistakes in the listing I will correct it. First I need to take a closer look at the car to see what's not right for sure
Thanks again

I can really appreciate that answer, sounds like a straight up kinda guy  :dunno: not an arrogant ass like some ebay sellers

The broadcast sheet is way to pristine, all the numbers are clearly readable. In my 40+ years of dealing with mopars the build sheets are usually torn and the numbers are hard to read with rusted spring marks going through them.

Plus it says D21(4 speed) when we know that this car was an automatic. You were right in your initial thoughts of reproduction.

I also emailed the seller and he responded by saying he bought the car this way. He has also ended the auction.

are '70 & '71 'cuda firewalls the same?  what is missing on the "lost 'cuda's" firewall?

anlauto

Some of the hole locations differ from 1970-71, mainly the reverse light wire hole. The car in question does not have any of the four speed holes in the firewall.

I received another message from the current seller which I believe to be the truth, looks like maybe he was duped too :dunno:

Hi Alan, Its too late here to physically get into investigating the vehicle but right after you very kindly pointed out what you knew, another not so kind new member gave me his two cents to put it nicely. So, I tried to go into the auction and update it with the new information but those fields were locked out. All I could do was insert a comment that an error was made and apologize to everyone for having to cancel the auction in order to make it right. I also individually emailed everyone who contacted me with interest on the car and told them exactly what you mentioned and that without proof its entirely possible it was an automatic car turned into a 4 speed not the other way around and that being the trans was the only part that didn't have matching numbers it might just be the case. I told them if they are still interested with that being the case to let me know. I purchased the car from a guy local to me who got it from somewhere across the country. In any case I may just keep it and do it over time - I do like the car and I don't need the grief. I just thought you might want to know.

@johnr  & @anlauto how is correspondence signed?  is the person currently with the car the same that purchased it from "johnr"?

he claims in the response to Alan that "another not so kind new member" wasn't so nice - is the current owner also a member on E-bodies.org??

QuoteThe car sat for a while all apart and rust accelerating when the family contacted a friend to ask if he wanted the car. He purchased it and got it home and realized it was way more than he was prepared to get involved in, and sold it to me.

QuoteThe fender tag is missing – was when I bought it, but luckily, we found the broadcast sheet inside the driver's side seat

quotes from the eBay ad

per the eBay ad, it doesn't sound like there are any owners between "johnr" (the family friend) & "allterrainn" (the eBay seller)

Hmmm

Hey welcome John, is there anything you can add ? Is there a possibility of an "over looked" broadcast sheet just popping up ?

Yea Dan, I wondered that too.....I sent him a link to here so maybe he was just visiting and referring to sd22 as a "new member" ?

Does Jonhr remember who he sold it to ?

the above sheet is not authentic, so it "popped up" recently - literally - "J82" is a nice touch  :stop:
