This shaker car has been on EBay for what seems like years with the same asking price.

What do you guys think ?
What would be an asking price that would make it actually sell ?

No disrespect if the owner is a member here, but just trying to see what others think :dunno:

I would have a tough time paying half of what he's asking.  Fender tag is disintegrated, tons of rust, and you know there are missing parts and pieces.  So maybe $12k?

Then send it to you for another $60-70k and you have a $80k '71 vert worth $60k.   :takemymoney:

 Gonna have to take look at this one and get back to you.

It's got a lot of things going for it that make it pretty special.  It's really hard to tell just how bad the rust is with the repaint and (guessing) some filler to get it to look good.  But that fender tag tells a big story and the extra body and parts might be needed to save this one.  What's worth all done?  Around $85k? :dunno:  And we know it would take about $90k maybe more to save it, right?  Someone will need to do that car that loves it and is will to spend a little more then it might be worth.  But dang, I hope someone saves it!!!!   :inlove:

Yea....The asking price really makes or breaks this deal.....I'm guess the current owner got it for next to nothing and is really looking to cash out in a big way...
As a major project, with all the original shaker stuff, I still don't see it worth much more then $15k-$18K, even with that buy in you're upside down.

There's a gold/white 340 auto 71 shaker rag that is a nice turn key car and they can't get much more then $60K for it....

The purple/white 340 4spd one I did has changed hands in the six figures but that's because it was always in a trade deal...now it's at $185K and I don't see that coming any time soon (although I did a nice resto on it) ;)

There was only (3) 340 cars, so I would say it's pretty darn rare....I don't follow the value of those but a safe guess would easily put it in the six figures...It's certainly a "cross collectable" as they say :bigmoney:

Is he looking for a restoration shop :bigthumb:

I'm not up on the prices of convertibles, but I think Alan is right putting it in the 6 figure area.  After seeing what E-Bodies were bringing at Auction makes me want to buy more of them.  Prices are down and maybe your buddy can use the current market conditions to his advantage.  I'm hearing blood bath stories from some people I know that took E-Bodies down to BJ.  That makes me want to buy more E-Bodies right now!  Any dip in the prices is just a good opportunity to buy more.

Interior rear quarter panels are gone. They are made of unobtainum as I read?  What else is missing? Not enough pictures? Cool car just the same?

@TX9AAR  does your friend know which 340 car it is ?
These cars were not sold to the public but given to people
One was Eldon Palmer President of Dodge
Another Bernard McGinty President of McGinty Dodge
and R.B. McCurry President of McCurry Dodge

I guess the last two could have been sold right away...who knows...

If your friend passes on the deal, please let us know.  I'm sure there will be a few people waiting in line to buy it.  I'm one of them.

That fender tag is really sad.  But if the rust is going to leave a couples numbers you want it to be the N96 and the VON!!!!  Plus you get the window sticker.

What would it sell at?  Maybe around $25k would be fair?   :dunno:

@Cuda Cody @anlauto  I know this is taking this a little off topic but a friend of mine has looked at a 71 r and I was wondering what you think it could be worth assuming it got a correct restoration. It's a 340 car has a power bulge hood  and a/c. It has the fender tag and it is documented

What did I miss here? What is a 71 r 340 car?      :clueless:
