After finding thrill after thrill of original parts on my 70 U code Challenger, I found the starter to have a 1973 marking on it  Do any companies repop them or am I stuck digging for one?

Nope .... Rebuilt originals or lot's of us have switched to the mini-starter from the '90's 360's
Those can be had from a salvage yard, rebuilt or there are re-poped new

I wonder how hard it would be to find a rebuilt original?

Not hard.... https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo.php?pk=1000976&cc=1078444&jsn=547
finding a date code to match your car could be a challenge

Another thing...most of the problems folks blame on the starter are something else

Yeah but the original must have died and been turned in as a core long ago.

If you find a correct dated core you can always send it out for rebuilding or even OE restoration  :alan2cents:

It's one of those items, that only you will know has the wrong date on it....unless you are going for OE judging.

I agree, Alan. It's just that it's "that one thing", but I guess so is the paint, the trunk pan, and the quarters. I'll keep poking around. Never know. After all I came up with a 2229171 master cylinder and 3 NOS 70 owners manuals, so anything is possible.

Well I'm sure they're out there...good luck  :drinkingbud:
