Mystery wire in steering column

Good morning gang, I've found a loose mystery wire - looks like 18 gauge, black, no visible tracer, coming from the horn area. I'd rather not take the column apart to figure out what it is, or where it's supposed to connect. Does anyone know?

Steering column is '71 up

Aftermarket ignition switches have an extra black wire on them.  They are made to fit multiple applications.  E-bodies didn't use that wire.  That's my guess...

Thanks for reply, that makes sense. The black wire coming from the switch is intact, so this one seems to be extra. I'm hoping to crank the car first time this week, guess we'll see if anything's missing soon enough.
