New Fan controller.. hot location on firewall?

So I had the fan controller mocked up and running.. 1st photo below. Noted it got pretty warm in that location. Not hot enough to burn... but uncomfortable to touch for more than a few seconds. Did not realize how much heat was coming up off the exhaust in that area where the old electronic ignition box used to be.

So I fabbed up a quick heat shield and mounted the controller on 1 inch standoffs hoping to keep the heat off it, second photo below.

No bueno.. that lil box still gets hot after I run around town a bit. I like the location as it's easy to see and adjust. Would eventually mount the failover switch in that same location.

Looking for ideas how to keep it cool. Only other thing I can think of is to wrap/cocoon it in thermal barrier. The relays just under the controller for the AC have been there 10 years and still work fine.. should I even be that concerned?  :dunno:
