Hey all,

I have been lurking here about a week and figured it was time to take the plunge and join. I bought a 1971 Dodge Challenger about a month ago.  The car I bought is not perfect, but is perfect for me. I have never been one to tinker with cars but have always wanted too, so I figured I would take the plunge and do both at the same time and maybe my boys and I would learn things on the way.

Can anyone help me in identifying this piece? It is located in the engine bay on the front passenger fender (towards the horns). Not sure if this is the proper placement for it either as I have not seen this on other 340 engine bay pics I have seen.

I would also like to clean up the looks of the engine bay. The heater hoses are just laying there and I though they were supposed to be strapped to a piece that connects to the inner fender, where would I find these straps? Sorry if the questions seem dumb, but I am looking to learn, if there is a resource I should be looking at first, do not hesitate to let me know.

Thanks.

That's an ECU. Electronics Control Unit. Not original to your car, someone upgraded the ignition. Stock location in later years was next to your voltage regulator on the firewall.

:welcome:@B7 knight You came to the right place! May I suggest a factory service manual, they have them on CD. you can print the pages you heed and not have to worry about protecting a book or it's pages.

Whoever put your ICU didn't like the look of it on the firewall.

:iagree:

I mounted mine 4 seconds flat at where the A/C condenser mounted.

I didn't know that. I always thought it occurred for the '72 model year.
