340 Block

Can somebody tell me if there is a difference between 70-71 340 blocks and the 72-73 block? I have a forged 340 crank but no block.
I see there is a 72 block for sale in my town (although i'm not sure of it's condition) and I was wondering if my crank would work. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.

Block is the same.... Well the casting day is different.....

Ok thanks.  His ad says one cylinder is sleeved and he is "unsure of bore". Should I be concerned about the sleeved cylinder?

good 340's are out there.  I would not worry about the sleeve if it was done right and it was the numbers matching block.  But since you are starting fresh you should be able to find a good block that has not been sleeved.    Either way, have a machine shop check any block you buy before you complete the deal.

Yes: The sleeve is fine if installed correctly. Have the block checked and the bores measured. On 340 blocks, you are lucky to go .040 over so you have to watch the bore size.
