340 kickdown linkage colour

What colour is the kickdown linkage supposed to be? I belive the mount is engine colour but not sure on the linkage that goes to the transmission. It's a 1971 340 cuda 727

No color, I think it's just natural or maybe plated.  It looks silver to me.  I can look when I get home, but maybe someone else knows for sure.

Silver zinc plated.

I think the linkage in this picture might be painted to look like plating.  You get the idea though.


Look for an electro plating company in your area.  They usually have a minimum charge for barrel plating fasteners.  I sent my kickdown linkage along with all my other fasteners and they plated it for the same base price.  If that's the only thing you need plated, you might get lucky and get it done for free.  I cleaned/stripped my spare tire jack mast and took it to a local company.  They said it would only be a few cents worth of zinc and replated it for nothing.

I guess I'll be looking for a plating company.  I know there isn't many around my area.

You might be able to plate that yourself too.  Or polish it nicely and put a little clear over it.  Just a could thoughts.

How would you plate that myself? I thought it was painted so I sandblasted the bracket on the transmission already

Eastwood has a zinc plating kit but I don't think it's very easy to use.  Never tried it though.  Barrel plating was so cheap, it wasn't worth it for me.

I bought that Eastwood zinc plating kit over a year ago and still haven't gotten around to trying it out... I don't think the plastic plating container would be big enough to plate some of the long linkage parts he'll need to do... ...You wouldn't believe how many parts I've had replated/replaced on some vehicles even when they're in a climate controlled environment...It's a vicious cycle for sure...
