Car-nutt

Hello everyone, this is my first post.
I've attached a picture of the 4 speed trans that came with my car (70 Cuda). I know it's not the right one , I just want to know if it will fit without modifications. I have attached two pictures of the serial number and the casting number.

Welcome @Car-nutt

It looks to me to be a 1971 4 Speed trans.  Here's the breakdown of the VIN:

1R115300=
   Year = 1971
   Out of a car built in Windsor, Ontario Canada
   VIN = 115300 (or the 15,300th car that year from that plant)

PP833 3337 0069
   PP833 = 833 4 Speed (E & B Body)
   3337 = 10,000 day date code of Sept 16th 1970 (for a 1971 model year vehicle)
   0069 = The 69th Trans built that day.

So yes, that should work perfect in your 1970 Cuda.  It could have been one of two shafts in it.  Either a 23 spline or 18 spline.  The 18 splines were for Hemi's and some 440 cars.  The 23 spline was for all the others.  Both are very strong and should hold up well for stock applications.  If you are building a beast, then you might want to have Brewers look at it and set it up to handle more horsepower.

The tail shaft looks to have the mounting tabs for an E-Body, but I can't see if they were drilled or not.  But since they have the tabs it's not hard to use a tap if they are not drilled.  Here's a photo to help you see the difference between A, B and E-Body tail shafts.

Great info!!
I will check the spline count.

What cars were built in Windsor, Ontario in 1971? just curious.  :dunno:

No E-Bodies that I know of.  Should be A & B Bodies?  Maybe some trucks and vans?  Just guessing though.   :notsure:

I also thought that pad or near there should have the last six digits of the vin code of the orig car.

Yes, correct.  It's on the pad...  VIN = 115300 (or the 15,300th car that year from that plant)   :bigthumb:
