blown motor

I have a 440 in my Charger, 73 block and a 440 in my truck, 77 block. The Charger oil pan is front sump and the truck is rear sump. Can someone educate me on why the difference?

Engine placement in chassis and centerlink placement.

So how is the oil pump driven on a rear sump engine? I thought it was driven by the dizzy shaft. Or do they just use a different pick up tube?

Different pickup tube. Car pan would hit the front diff on a 4X4.
