Which direction to advance timing on a small block 340?

Looking at the engine from the front of the car, Which direction do I turn to advance the timing on a small block 340?

None of us knew how to do this at some point, so glad you asked.  Turning against rotation advances the timing.

Just a small turn has a big effect.  Timing light is your friend.
