would like to verify the order of each proper component on the throttle linkage and trans rod to the carb on a 4 barrel 1971 340 727 cuda. specifically the return throttle spring, trans rod, clip, washer and trans rod spring, what order are they to be on the carb linkage stud?

Maybe this will help. I'm running aftermarket carb and intake but should give you a good idea.

ya, those are similar to what I found when I tried google searching, however my Edelbrock has a stud with a much larger void where the arrow is so the Trans lever can tip and move in and out from carb over 1/2 inch, as mine doesn't have this large wide nut. do I need to just add spacers to prevent it from sliding around?

I will try, but its a shaker car, so you probably wont be able to see anything

I'm pretty sure this is how it is supposed to be with the stock carb and linkage.  I think this stud with the 3 grooves is somewhat specific to thermoquad 340 applications.  The bracket for the throttle return is taller than most as well.  I have seen some swap the position of the throttle return and trans linkage spring.

Here's a little more close up view.

I don't have any pictures with the throttle cable attached but here if you zoom in on this one you can see that it goes on the inside.
