Can anyone describe the differences? When I bought mine, I was told that it was original. It has the part number and pentastar but I'm pretty sure repop ones have those too. What are some key differences that can easily identify a real one vs repop.

Pictures of differences would be nice to see.

IMHO it is like 3 inch verses 2.5 inch trim rings.
If you study them for a bit you can spot the difference.
The biggest difference is the material the scoop is made of.
Original is a composite talc material that was supposed to be designed to be fire retardent.
No reproduction is made of same material.
The most noticeable difference I have found is the scoop opening area.
The EW1 Hemicuda being discussed in another thread has a repro scoop and a bad one in my opinion.
Notice how thick the grill openings are in first picture verses an original in following pictures.
All repros I have seen to date have the 7 digit number, the 5 digit vendor code and pentastar cast into them.
The drain tube openings are another crucial area that is hard to duplicate 100% correctly.
There are other subtle difference and I am sure others will chime in.
To date no one has come as close to original in appearance as Tommy the Chryco has.
Its all in the details.
You have to study his.

I was going to second that about Tommy's, they're about as close as you're going get. :alan2cents:

This is on mine. I assumed it OEM ?

Like @mccannix  said, the part numbers and pentastars are on all repops. I'm not sure how/why they are (are the licensed by Mopar???) so, the part number alone isn't a good way to tell.

I'm going to post some pictures of mine on this thread in a few weeks when I get a chance. I'd be interested to get people's opinions on whether or not it is an original.

Alan - you're talking about these 2 holes, correct. You can see the one on the passenger's side, the driver's side is blocked by the seal.

Nah...they look like screw holes...if you look at Terry's picture above, showing the inside, you see the drain tube holes approx. 3/4" in size next to the smaller screw holes

Here's a better view of the drain holes. It's the two large holes at the top and you can see the yellow from the blanket showing through them.
