I have a 70 Challenger with original A/C.    I have added the Shaker set up.

The original (CARB AIR) length cold air cable is too short if relocating to the driver side dash.   Also the entry point through the firewall is blocked by the A/C
Heater box.

I have tried using a B-Body Air Grabber cable as it is basically the same, but longer.    I was wondering if anyone else has found a suitable
solution for the above combination and where they successfully  came through the firewall and located the pull activator under the dash??

Thanks in advance for any advise!

Good question.

Here's a bump for you as I will have this problem one day. My car is a barracuda with factory AC that I will add a factory shaker setup too. Had not considered this problem.

Does your car still have the under dash A/C trim installed?

For a non-OEM install, I have always thought about eliminating the cable and going electric to avoid extra holes in the firewall.
Use a switch and relay to trigger a 12v micro linear actuator mounted near the bell crank.

I wonder what other accessory items made the factory not do this.

The RV2 compressor crashes with the shaker base plate I recall reading.  My thought was to use the low Bouchillion compressor mount system at the fuel pump location or one of the smaller Sanden compressors.

I put the small Sanden compressor in my 71 with factory air. I didn't put the shaker cable on because there really wasn't a place to put it with the factory HVAC unit. I guess if you really wanted to and had the ac box apart you probably could figure out where you could drill a hole through it where it wouldn't hinder anything. I just leave the shaker grill open and enjoy the view of the shaker.

Hey Brad ..... that is very interesting!!

What is under the Bubble??   4-BBL or six pack?

Was the Shaker base plate modified to fit??

Cheers ... Gary

The factory did build at least one E-body with a 440-6 and air-conditioning
according to this literature I have.
Installed on Car 65...

340 4bbl , I don't think the base plate was modified to fit.
Not sure where the Kit was from?

OKAY ...... I have been corrected on a few fronts.    The Sanden SD508 compressor will fit under a SHAKER setup with the correct brackets in place of the original factory A/C compressor.

In my case (440 with PS and A/C), I will need a Bouchillon Performance Engineering bracket Kit #4710 .... about $150.   They also list some other pulleys that they recommend.    Bouchillon also have a series of pictures of the compressor installed (plus many notes on the correct combinations).

I was hoping to do this in conjunction with a serpentine conversion, but the budget won't allow for the time being.

I will share my experience with the installation once I purchase the kit from Classic Auto Air.
