What are you running for your ignition system?

What is your Cam specs?

I've got an ignition advance limiter plate that really helps the power thru the RPM range for sale I recommend considering.

Cam..........  :notsure:  never delved into it.  She's Ma's crate.... 2001 according to the guy I talked to at the 800# back in the day. Their used to be a sticker on the block with an 800# way back when. I still remember the first thing the guy said to me...   THAT'S NOT UNDER WARRANTY ANYMORE  ::)


On another note I really feel most of the black plugs is OIL.....  she's been a little smoky on startup...  :notsure:

You may want a hotter plug or at leats fix the oil getting into the cyl

Bigs, I think what you were expecting to see are whats called tube seals.....  They aren't really needed, they are added to reduce oil getting into the cylinders when the plugs are out.....  Looks like Cody & Sheldon already covered them earlier in this thread..

As far as oil consumption, Hemi's are bad about sucking oil through the intake gaskets.... All those small bolts & those huge ports aren't a great mix....

Yes: First of all when you don't run tube seals you will get oil in the plug holes like that. When you start it up it will smoke like crazy because of it. It's no big deal. Usually the oil gets on the plugs when you pull them as well but yours are burning oil, running pig rich or both.
As Wild alluded too, it is common for a Hemi to suck oil through the intake gaskets and the head studs that are screwed into the Hemi intake ports. That's why a little extra care is needed when bolting the heads and intake on a Hemi. Sealer must be used on the head studs ad good intake gaskets and careful installation to ensure a good intake seal.
The cool thing about a Stage V intake is that you can look right in the ports and see if you are sucking oil in there. When you are sure it is sealed up good, you can attack the carbs.

Hey guys thanks for the input. You know way back when I bought that cashe of HEMI parts I had a crap ton of tube seals. Maybe Neil remembers the post I did on C-C? Anyway of course I sold all that stuff....    :headbang:

The BIG thing for me is all this other  :wrenching: was supposed to be "fill in" till I got my radiator back from Glen-Ray. Now the more I do the more I need to do.

@Chryco Psycho - What do you think of me going from 12's to 14's on the plugs for now? Or am I just be lazy.... I never remembered those plugs being that black

@RUNCHARGER & @1 Wild R/T - I will be the first to admit, my intake bolt/washer setup NEVER looked good to me. The washers look like Ace Hardware to me.  But those rocker covers are getting sealed up first. I still like the idea of the tubes... the plug well hole does NOT need lubrication. And Summit can ship today

IMO you need to address a number of things , if there is oil leaking into the intake then you need to fix that first , you may have to pull the valve covers  to seal the intake properly so do that now while the cover is off , the plugs could be fine if there is no oil leak  I would still install new plugs tho . If there is no oil contamination then the carb needs to be dialed in unless you have not been fully heating it up & or not driving it , the plugs should clean up in 2-3 miles if everything is set up properly .
Tube seals are a big help , no reason the have the spark plug holes fill with oil when & plug is pulled .
I don't recall your post but I rarely look at anything for sale as I can afford nothing , barely lunch most days  :Thud:

Remember she hasn't had hardly any driving for the last 2 years. But that does not mean that intake is no leaking........  :bricks:

Tonite literally "up against the wall I took my Rt side VC off. Of course had to pull the plugs. I had one plug that looks like I remember them looking. It's the 3rd plug - this is what I remember from when I pulled them 4 or 5 years ago. Is my intake just not leaking on one cyl?? Opinions ?

If one is clean like that something has to be different in that cylinder , so yeah no oil contamination or ???
Cannot be carb , unless you have a massive vacuum leak into the brake booster leaning out that cylinder  :notsure:

Yeah: My vote is for all of the intake ports are leaking except that one. Did you run it after the broken bolt episode?
