My 426 hemi EFI conversion has had many challenges.  This next one is finding a location to install the coolant temp sensor.  The EFI sensor has an 3/8 NPT, the stock location is 1/8 NPT and I don't feel comfortable drilling and tapping it to 3/8.  Another option is using an inline coupler that has a bung for the new sensor.  I can use any rad hose or preferably a heater hose.  Is there a hose/location that you would recommend that gets engine temp coolant right away?

OR... is there anywhere else that I can install this second sensor, ex freeze plugs etc...

Thanks!

Which water pump housing are you running? Most have an extra location with a plug in it.....   Post a photo..

could you install a tee fitting in one of the heater core holes in the water pump if you don't have the extra pipe plug?

My radiator had a bung I was able to use after extending the harness

Is that actual operating temp?  Affected by the the thermostat initially closed?

Why not put a tee fitting where the heater hose nipple is? That's what I am going to do to my 440. All the ports in the water pump are used up
so to connect the heat (which was deleted by the previous owner) I bought a brass nipple and a tee.

Wild nailed it as usual. You remove that square headed plug that is pointed straight up and install it there with a brass adapter.

Beautiful!

Hopefully with the adapter, it gets enough coolant exposure.

exactly , between the 2 heater hose nipples you have a 3rd plug in the housing to the left of the T stat in your picture under the purple wire , remove the plug & install the sensor there as Wild said

I would personally hesitate using this port for efi. The most important part of the coolant sensor for efi is the warm up phase, which this can miss by a large margin.

This will give an definite delayed response.

With the 3/8 to 1/2 adapter, will the coolant probe get enough exposure?  The sensor is 3/8 and the WP housing hole is 1/2"  It'll be sitting at little higher because of the adapter.
