Backlash is at .009. Dr diff said .008-.010 on the sheet I got with my differential. I'm not sure if I can find a shim thinner than .009...

Back lash seems good and you are fully torqued on the main caps. I don't have my paper reference in front of me right now, but have you tried the opposite direction and adding shims so see if the pattern is any better?

Opposite was worse.  I did reach out to Cass and he said I'm about .005 too deep, so guess I'm taking it back apart and changing my shim stack.  I'm using the original shim that's thick like a washer so I hope I can come up with a combo of shims to get me that much less.  I don't have a lot of variety to work with in the shims I have.

Double check that the pinion bearing and bearing race is seated fully :) I had one once that I over looked and want not seated fully :/

If not, then thinner shims it is. I do not see anything thinner than .005" available. I have not yet had a bad set of gears that I could pattern , so I wouldn't expect the gears to be off, but there is always a first.

Oh it's 100% seated, I installed it with my press.

Talked to Cass, he told me to back it off another .005 so I did which left me at about .099 total.  If I go any further I'm going to start heading the wrong direction because with the original shim at .095ish I was too far away, so I think I'm going to go with this. Thanks everyone for their help.
